Search results

Depending on the number of responses, and on the search criteria used, results may be presented in three different modes:
- record
- image plate
- list

Record
This is the notice on a given mark, recapitulating all information relating to it.
A record is obtained directly when a search yields only one response, or via an image plate or a list when a search yields several responses.

The record contains:
- The Lugt number.
- The name of the collection: that is, the name currently used to identify the mark. Find out more
- The image: in the form of a tracing as found in the Lugt volumes and/or in the form of a digital photo. In rare cases, several digital photos may be offered for the one record.
N.B.: A magnifier effect can be obtained by moving the mouse pointer over the image. Find out more
- The article (or articles): You will find, on the tabs displayed, a main article and any supplements to the main article that may exist. These are arranged in chronological order (e.g. 1921, 1956, 2010). Find out more
N.B.: As the last article does not repeat information already provided in the previous ones, it is advisable to consult all the tabs.
- The technical description: technique, colour, location, size.
- Links to any related marks: if the collection or the collector has used several marks, a scroll-down list of these will appear. Simply select the mark desired in the scroll-down list at the bottom left of the page, and click on the ‘view’ button to access the corresponding record. Find out more

The ‘back to results’ tab at the top left of the page appears if the record has been accessed via an image plate or a list, allowing the user to return to the latter.
The ‘modify your search’ tab in the same zone allows you to return to the search screen containing the last criteria entered.
The ‘search’ button at the centre of the top of the page allows you to return to an empty search screen.

The ‘print’ button at the top right of the page allows printing to be launched.

Image plate
An image plate is obtained when a Name and location of the collection and/or a Description of the mark search yields several responses.

The marks are presented in the form of a plate displaying, at the top left of the page, the number of marks corresponding to the search results (followed, in the case of more than one page, by links to the other page numbers), and thumbnail reproductions of the marks (either in the form of the tracings reproduced in the Lugt volumes or in the form of digital photos).
By moving the mouse pointer over the image, a magnifier effect is obtained and the Lugt number and name associated with the mark appear. To access the record, simply click on the image.

The ‘modify your search’ tab at the top left of the page allows you to return to the search screen containing the last criteria entered.
The ‘search’ button at the centre of the top of the page allows you to return to an empty search screen.

List
This is obtained when a Search for keywords in the articles search yields several responses.

The marks are presented in the form of a list displaying, at the top left of the page, the number of marks corresponding to the search results (followed, in the case of more than one page, by links to the other page numbers), the Lugt number as well as the name associated with the mark.
To access a record, simply click on the corresponding line.
N.B.: The sequence of characters corresponding to your search appears in bold red type for easy visibility.

The ‘modify your search’ tab at the top left of the page allows you to return to the search screen containing the last criteria entered.
The ‘search’ button at the centre of the top of the page allows you to return to an empty search screen.
